Happy 2026 brew club!
Sorry for the late newsletter, look for it to keep this rough schedule, a few days after the General Meeting.
We’re pleased to announce Susan Jimenez has once again won the Brewer of the Year! She was a force to be reckoned with this year, both in our club competitions and around the country. Here’s a glimpse at her record for the year:
- gauntlets: 4 first place wins; two seconds; and 3 thirds
- National Homebrew Competition: a first and third in the first round; and second in the final round
- Other competitions: 3 Best of Show; 10 gold; 5 silver; 6 bronze
At a recent board meeting someone said, “How is anyone going to win this from you?” Susan said, “oh, I don’t have to win it, you can just name it after me!” We all had a good laugh, then realized it’s a really fun idea! So, until we get another repeat winner, it is The Susan Jimenez Brewer of the Year.
Another change to the BOTY competition is that competitions that are part of the Beehive State Circuit will count towards the competition. This addition is being made as a thank you to the club running that circuit for adding our Ghosts of the West competition to that circuit. The first competition in that circuit is coming soon - Homebrewtah, so get brewing!
We’re coming in hot to 2026! Join us for our inaugural fourth Friday happy hour watch for these each month, a great way to connect with the club in a less formal setting. They’ll change location each month, but when it’s downtown, it coincides with the Prescott Artwalk. This month is at the The Crescent Bar at Fairweather Social Club, which is across the street from the Art Hive, which is a great stop on the Artwalk.
The next Friday in very close proximity, Mile High Beer Project is having a pre-opening event come show your support and get a taste of what they’ll have in the taproom soon!
Next month, you won’t want to miss the meeting. We’re having Wren House Prairie Patio Director of Operations Jake teach us about wood aging. This should be a great learning opportunity, bring your questions!
